Tap Jazz Lyrical Dance Classes

COMBINATION CLASS: TAP & JAZZ

  • 6-8 Year Olds

This class focuses on preparing students to transition from combination classes into more advanced classes that emphasize a specific style of dance.

  • Tap – This portion of the class consists of reviewing basic tap steps, as well as developing intricate patterns and rhythms.

  • Jazz – This portion of the class consists of teaching students the proper execution of leaps, kicks, and turns, while improving their flexibility, sense of rhythm, and overall coordination.

JAZZ & TAP

  • 8-11 Year Olds

The jazz portion of this class consists of teaching elements of dance, such as turns, splits, kicks, leaps, and isolations, while also developing balance skills and overall coordination.  It also includes stretch and strengthening exercises, center floor combinations, and across the floor progressions.

The tap portion of this class is designed to develop rhythm, style, and varying sounds, with emphasis on developing proper tap technique and producing clear tap sounds.

JAZZ / LYRICAL

  • Middle School

  • High School

This class is designed with more structure and discipline, with an emphasis on poise, balance, flexibility and strength. Class instruction consists of combining the power and dynamics of jazz with the expressive motions of lyrical dance.  It includes stretch and strengthening exercises, center floor combinations, and across the floor progressions.  Students will learn jazz and lyrical technique, development of self-expression, and interpretation of music.
